Actually this beer is brewed in Belgium, but it is a Japanese craft beer. I know it’s confusing. So what’s going on is that they bring Japanese ingredients such as Yuzu and Sansho (Japanese Pepper) to Belgium and brew beer with those ingredients in Belgium. They export the beer from Japan so that’s why it’s a Japanese beer.

実はこのビールはベルギーで作られているのですが、日本のクラフトビールです。少し不思議な感じですよね。日本の材料、ゆずとか山椒をベルギーに持って行ってそこでビールを作っているそうです。そのビールを日本から輸出しているので日本のビールになっています。

It’s like Sapporo and Asahi beer in USA. Those beer are brewed in Canada, but they are Japanese beer. Did you know that?

アメリカで飲まれている札幌やアサヒビールも同じようなもので、カナダで作れています。でも日本のビールとして飲まれています。皆さん、知ってました？

The type of this beer is Saison which is called Farmhouse Ale. It was brewed for farmers to drink in summer. However, beer can be spoiled in summer because of heat so they upped the hops and alcohol by volume to prevent beer from being bad.

このビールのスタイルはセゾンです。セゾンはファームハウス エールとも呼ばれています。これは農家の人が夏の暑い日に飲むように作られました。暑いとビールも腐ってしますので、ホップを大量に入れアルコール度数を上げる事によってビールが悪くならないようにしたのがセゾンの始まりだと言われています。

It has Yuzu and Sansho flavor so it is pleasant to the taste. It’s so fizzy and refreshing so perfect for summer. I think this beer can go well with food, especially Japanese food.

ゆずと山椒の味があり、口当たりが良いビールです。そして炭酸が強めでかなりサッパリ、爽快感があるビールなので夏にはピッタリです。食事ともよく合うと思います。特に日本食との相性は抜群だと思います。

They also have Kagua Blanc and Kagua Rouge. Blanc is like a white ale and Rouge is like a red or dark ale. They all have Yuzu and Sansho as main ingredients, but all very different.

このビールの他に馨和 Blancと馨和 Rougeがあります。Blancがホワイトエールのようなビールで、Rougeがレッド、ダークエールのようなビールです。３本とも主な原材料としてゆずと山椒が使われていますが、どれも全く違う味があるので是非、試して見て下さい。
